maartenverweijen Such a great EP from Vaselyne again! Apart from the Junksista remix of Shame I also like 'A Woman's Story'. Highly recommended! Favorite track: Shame (PJ Harvey cover) - Junksista Remix.

Yves Schelpe (Psy'Aviah) Incredibly nicely worked out cover of "A Woman's Story", also love the JUNKSISTA remix of Shame and can see it landing in my sets - so well done that mix of electro/funkyness <3. Favorite track: A Woman's Story (Marc Almond Cover).

about

Vaselyne’s Shame” EP is the final offering before their, “The Sea Says” album release in June.

Cover songs can be a dicey proposition. Missteps are easy and fatal. But Yvette Winkler and Frank Weyzig have a knack to find amazing and often overlooked gems in an artist's catalog.

Their stunning cover of PJ Harvey’s “Shame” draws you in immediately. Frank Weyzig’s direct connection to the original post-punk movement (he was a member of early Clan of Xymox during the first two albums) pays huge dividends in this reimagined classic. It has all the authenticity and dramatic flair of the late 80ties, while the production and execution are squarely footed in 2022. Best of both worlds if you will. The band doubles down with their second track, a Cher cover of “A Woman's Story“. The bold, grand interpretation showcases the deep passion and skill that Frank and Yvette bring to the table. A prime example is Frank’s guitar solo on the track. His performance is incredibly emotional, evocative, and leaves you deeply moved. Paired with Yvette’s perfect vocal delivery the duo creates an incredibly powerful version of “A Woman's Story“ and truly makes it their own.

It is absolutely apparent that impeccable skill, artistic genius, and fearlessness are the guiding lights for Vaselyne. We can’t wait to share their album “The Sea Says” in June.

Vaselyne full Biography

Vaselyne is a collaboration between Dutch singer/lyricist Yvette Winkler and Dutch musician and producer Frank Weyzig. A mutual artistic curiosity gave birth to their VASELYNE project in the spring of 2011. One can safely assume that to hold tenure in VASELYNE, you'd best exhibit the deepest level of commitment to what the band stands for. Influenced by bands like Porcupine Tree and Blackfield, Vaselyne could remain one of ambient-alternative rock's most intelligent and gifted technical bands. (Markus Seibel / medicinemag).

Both members have a track record that speaks for itself. Yvette Winkler was co-founder of Dutch band "Sea of Souls" (2006). Frank Weyzig is a Dutch producer and composer, known for his contribution to the original line-up for "Clan of Xymox" and his work with indie new wave band "Born For Bliss".

Vaselyne continues to innovate upon their unique form of artambient/alternative and at the end of the day, its actually the ease with which Vaselyne serves up this versatility, making the music go by in a flash ( Markus Seibel/ medicine-mag.com).. Vaselyne has so far released four albums on German label Echozone: ‘Earthboundʼ EP (2012), their full length debut album ‘The Fire Withinʼ (2013), ‘In Dreamsʼ EP (2015) and ‘Fragileʼ EP (2016).

In the spring of 2018, after a two year hiatus, the band picked up things where they left and Vaselyne contributed to the new Textbeak (Michael Szewczyk) album, “Sick for Songs a Season Eats”, produced by John Fryer. For this album, Yvette wrote and sung the lyrics for “Legion_err” and both Frank and Yvette have written and sung the lyrics for “Information Medicine” a track with Mark Stewart of “The Pop Group”. Frank also added the electric guitar parts for this track. Others who contributed to this album release are: John Fryer, Lynette Cerezo (Bestial Mouths), Searmanas and Mark Stewart (The Pop Group). Yvette also collaborated with IAMTHESHADOW, John Fryer’s Black Needle Noise, Jean- Marc Lederman, Attrition and Junksista. Frank worked with Kelly Cook ( ex- Moev) on their new project “Tearing The BlackBox”. Their first singles ‘Devil World’ and 'Breathe', were released in 2022.

In the fall of 2021, Vaselyne signed with COP International. Their first official release on COP International was "The Winter EP", released December 2021, followed by their “Here to Begin” EP in March 2022 and the “Shame” EP in May 2022. In June 2022 Vaselyne released their long awaited full album “The Sea Says”… The first single of that album is a ballad “Waiting to Exhale”. The video for this track was made by Dutch filmmaker Dorothee Meddens. The album includes collaborations with Lynette Cerezo from Bestial Mouths, Searmanas, John Fryer ( Black Needle Noise, NIN, Prayers, This Mortal Coil and HIM) and Michael Aliani from Chiron/Ikon. In May 2023 Vaselyne released their second single of the forementioned album; “Under your Skin”.

Vaselyne are currently writting their new album. The first taste will come in the form of the “Necromancer”, EP. Again evolving their ever expanding sound, it includes a remix by acclaimed scene favourite Kill Shelter. The video for “Necromancer is directed by Dutch filmdirector Dennis Overeem.
